KoKo (now Luke)

We went to Petsmart one Saturday about a month ago to get bedding for my daughter's hamster. Perfect Paws was there with many different animals. But when I locked eyes with this puppy, I was a goner! I grew up with big dogs but have had cats for the past 15 years. Now, it was time. I bonded with him immediately and cried when I left the store without him. My husband and I had to have a conversation before we made a decision. There were many obstacles in our path before we could adopt. It took us almost 4 hours to get the fees together, do the paperwork, and buy supplies.
But my hubby could see that this dog was going to be a great source of happiness for me and he has become my own personal therapy! Luke is very happy with a fenced in yard where he can run free. My husband and I take him for walks every day. He has so many toys and rawhides he doesn't know what to do with himself. He has become our spoiled little baby and we love him so much.

Simon (Now Cinnamon)

I rescued this little dog about a month ago. She was very skiddish to every little thing. Now she has a new friend with Lilly - my other Schnauzer and they get a long great! Cinnamon rules the house when it comes to barking and howling. She has really come through and is a very sweet dog. She loves all the people when they come over and is not shy anymore. Playing was the first thing I taught her as I do not think she ever learned the concept.

Again, she has a great personality and loves to Howl and bark which is great.

Summer

I adopted Summer during the last week of August, and the past month has been a blast for the both of us! She is approximately a 9-10 month, German Shepard/Husky mix. We get along perfectly. She is extremely well behaved (for the most part!) and was perfectly crate and house trained before she was adopted. She has had no accidents in the house! She is a very loving, affectionate girl. Summer is receptive to learning and likes to obey me. She has already learned 'shake', 'take a nap', 'outside' and 'potty' in additional to 'sit' and 'down' she already knew. She is working very hard on 'quiet', 'rollover' and 'give'. She is very obedient!

I am extremely happy with my adoption, and am excited that I had the opportunity to have her as a pet. I would like to thank Perfect Paws for the great dedication and care given to Summer before I adopted her.

Thank you so much!

Pancake

I wasn't the biggest fan of dogs when Pancake arrived, but because of Pancake, my life has completely changed. I am now doing volunteer work and participating in every event possible to help end animal cruelty. Pancake was the best thing to ever happen to me. We got him in May of 2010 from Perfect Paws, who I wish I could thank every single day for the gift they gave me. He loves bones and squeaky toys (one squeaky toy in particular that he never let's go). He's learning how to play fetch and loves chasing squirrels. He now has a brother, Max, to play with as well. Thank you Perfect Paws, Pancake was a blessing.

Phoebe

We adopted Phoebe (now known as Flash) from Perfect Paws at the Adopt-a-thon August 13, 2011. She is a slightly overweight Puggle who is just perfect for us. She was surrendered the day before the adoption event, and is 4 years old. We did not want to go through the "puppy years" with another dog. She loves to walk outside and discover all the wonders of her new home. We hope to be able to let her run a little more when we can trust her more and she can trust us more. She is already a delightful addition to our family and gets along great with our 2 and 3 year old grandsons and our cat. We hope she will be around for as long as our last dog, 13 years!

Seda Mae (formerly Snowball), adopted in August 2007

We adopted Seda when she was 8 weeks old, in August 2007. She weighed only 4 lbs when we brought her home and we were told he was a toy fox terrier mix. She now weighs about 45 lbs and is some type of lab/terrier/boxer mix. Seda and her sister were abandoned together but the sister was adopted the day before her. I would love to see what her sister looks like now! I feel so lucky to have adopted such a perfect little girl and want to thank perfect paws pet rescue for all the great work they do!

I am SO HAPPY !

I am so HAPPY we were at the right place at the right time ! My wife and I were at the Pet Smart store at Apple Glen Shopping Center to get some litter for our other 2 cats . Perfect Paws had some kittens there "on display" for adoption. This little tuxedo "gentleman" (CID) just "stamped" his paw prints on MY heart ,,BIG TIME ! I fell in love with him on FIRST sight. He is such a LOVING and affectionate little guy. We have re-named him BUDDY as he is ALWAYS by me. He is just 3 1/2 months old , but what a "sweetie" ! We filled out the papers for him and I "raced" them back to the store hoping I would have first "dibs" on him. Sure enough, I received a call the next day that we were excepted as suitable "parents" of this little guy. What a joy he has added to our "family". He has adjusted very well to his 2 (cat) "sisters" who are 4 and 8 yrs. old. Bailee is 4 and Zoe is 8 . They get along super well.
I recommend the Perfect Paws organization to everyone. The facility and foster people are very caring about each and every animal.
We are really happy with or little guy ! We have had him 2 weeks now and are looking forward to a long relationship !
Sincerely,
Norm G.

Mack (5/ 2009 adoption - attention sibling owners - Leo, Jasper, Lucy

I adopted Mack (now renamed to Duke) on 5/23/09. We've had Duke for a couple of years and love him dearly. Thank you, Perfect Paws Pet Rescue & Duke's foster 'parents' - for helping us give Duke his forever home!!

He came to your pet rescue with 4 of his siblings. This is the page of your site that references Mack (Duke). http://www.perfectpawspetrescue.org/animals/detail?AnimalID61960#animalOtherPictures

3 of his siblings are:
Leo: http://www.perfectpawspetrescue.org/animals/detail?AnimalID61958
Jasper: http://www.perfectpawspetrescue.org/animals/detail?AnimalID61961
Lucy: http://www.perfectpawspetrescue.org/animals/detail?AnimalID61967
I can't recall the name of the 4th, unless there were a total of 4 and Duke (Mack) was the 4th.

The dogs were thought to "puggles" (pug/beagle/mixed). We knew early on he was not a puggle and likely had more terrier in him. This year I decided to have some DNA testing done on Duke to hlep us best keep his inherent breed traits satisfied through training and activity.

In a nutshell, one of Duke's parents was a Toy Fox Terrier/English Cocker Spaniel cross. The other of Duke's parents was a Chihahua Mix. The mixed breed ancestor (the dog crossed w/the Chihahua to make up his second parent) was identified by the 5 next best breed matches that appeared in the ananlysis of Duke's DNA. Those 5 breeds (in order of relative strength in the analysis) are Yorkshire Terrier (5.17%), Biewer Terrier (5.04%), English Toy Spaniel (4.06%), Beagle (1.62%), and Rat Terrier (1.46%).

I'm sharing the results in hopes the owners of the other siblings may get it. I'm happy to share Duke's full canine genetic analysis, which contains a great deal more information you may find helpful - or just intersting!

I've attached a couple updated pictures for you. Enjoy!

Hank, formerly Gage

We adopted Gage on January 15, 2011, when he was only eight weeks old. Upon adoption we renamed him Hank because my boyfriend's name is Gage. After bringing Hank home, we found out that he was already completely crate trained, which made it a lot easier to house train him. We also discovered how easy it is to teach Hank various commands; it only took him three tries to learn to drop his toy on command.
Hank loves to go for walks and to play outside at my parent's house. He knows how to fetch and to return his toys. Also, he plays very well with other animals and kids. We enjoy every day with him and we look forward to many more. We would like to say thank you to the family who fostered him, you guys did a great job.

Princess Nora

Nora joined our family about a month ago. Because our neighbor's name is Norma, we decided we had to call her by another name, and she became Princess. She looks forward to her walks around the neighborhood each day, and a rawhide bone to chew on at night.
She loves to play with her "cousins," Breezy and Bosley - our daughter's two dogs. They have taught her to play catch and keep-away.
She was not sure about riding in a car, but has adapted quickly. Yesterday she took her longest trip yet - a trip to our property on Coldwater Lake in southern Michigan. Already, she tried out the water!
We're looking forward to a fun summer with our very big family and all their dogs.
She is smart, affectionate, and already an important member of our family! She is PERFECT.

CoCo & Romeo

I am a new foster parent for Perfect Paws Rescue. It's much harder than I thought, because I wanted to adopt my first two; CoCo and Romeo. I wanted to adopt both; but as Tammy said, then I couldn't help give another dog a 2nd chance; you see, I already have 2 other dogs and a cat. I've never made such a tough decision to give up one of the two. I adopted CoCo and he is positively awesome; loving, loves my other dogs, plays a lot and has brought absolute joy to our house. He has bonded with my husband who is not really an animal lover. Ths dog has created a miracle!!!!!! Now on to Romeo, the little red,Chi/Pom mix. I thought I was going to die when I took him to his new adoptee. Cried for 3 days and still think of him everyday. But how fortunate for him and me that he got a wonderful home with Sarah and Sarah's little Yorkie. They have all bonded and Sarah keeps me informed onhow they are all doing. How fortunate I am to have had little Romeo in my life and that h
e has such an awesome home. I now have a 3rd fostor little boy, who I named Duffy, after that handsome hunk Patrick Duffy. LOL Tammy's wisdom was so correct, I excited that I get to give another dog a foster home. And, I know I won't want to give this darling dog up, either, but know I am doing the right thing. Hope he gets an awesome home, too. I pray for all of them. I hope that more people have it in their hearts to become foster homes or/and become adoptees to these wonderful animals (dogs/cats) and give them a 2nd chance!!!!!!!!!!

Fritz

Fritz came to us a few weeks after we lost our 15 year old schnauzer Wally. We have come to believe the Wally "sent" Fritz to us. From what we can determine Fritz was dropped at the shelter on about the same day the Wally died. Fritz has one ear which is slightly cocked, as did Wally. Fritz is bow legged, so was Wally. Fritz LOVEs to have his chest scratched, well guess what again, so did Wally. Our sorrow has been replaced with love thanks to our rescue!

After a rough start with the doggie door Fritz now spends more time out in the yard than in the house. He loves it! He and his "brother" Winston are on the verge of actually playing with each other. Fritz's playfulness has really begun to surface since he has been here. We even think he may be younger than we originally were told.

This was our first rescue and we really didn't know what to expect. We are truly blessed to have found our Fritz-o!

The first photo is of the brothers, Winston and Fritz. The second photo is Fritz. The last photo was our Wally.

Thanks to all at Perfect Paws!

Now, we wouldn't take "Nuthin" for our "Muffin"!!!

Mika

I was not the adopter for Mika, but I was her foster. She was such a sweet little puppy, and when I took her to her adoption, I knew she was going to the right home.
As soon as I walked in to the store Mikas new mommy and daddy looked at her and had the happiest looks on their faces.
Mikas mommy was so touching, she began to try with tears of happiness, and got right down on the floor to interact and meet her new baby.
I know that Mika has a great family now, and to see the happiness in her new owners faces was the greatest gift I could have asked for. This is the reason that I am so grateful to be able to foster pets who might not have a chance, and it is also the reason that I will continue fostering puppies and dogs through this great organization.
My fosters have given me the greatest joy, and seeing them placed in a new, permanent, loving family is probably the only thing that comes close to making me as happy as I am to be able to help these pets!

Izzy, Formerly Pepper

Tammy,

My Husband and I adopted one of your dogs in 2006 and thought we would give you an update on her.  Her name was Pepper, we renamed her Izzy.  She is still very spunky and loves all people and dogs. (can't say the same for rabbits)  We now have a year and a half old son and they are best friends-especially since he sneaks her occasional table scraps.  She gets to run alot of her energy off at Grandma and Grandpa's house, as they have a lot of land in the country.  Her favorite outdoor activities include walks, chasing a Frisbee or ball-which she hasn't quite mastered bringing it back, and well......pretty much everything else.  She truly is a great dog!  Please share this message with anyone who may remember her.  Thank you for rescuing her!  I have attached pictures for you to have and share.

Macy

Macy and her big sister Hanna seem to really be hitting it off. They are already snuggling together and Hanna has become very protective of her. Macy loves all of the toys we have and has adjusted to our home very well.

Macy's potty training is coming right along and the slept through the night last night with big sis right next to her.

So far, so good....

Sassy (Macy)

My husband and I brought Sassy (now named Macy) home yesterday afternoon and she is doing fine. Hanna, her big sister (1.5 year old female yellow lab) already adores her. They have been playing non-stop since we arrived home.

Macy is learning currently learning basic potty and kennel training. I suspect she'll be in good to go in a couple of weeks. It's amazing what older dogs can do to help with training. We also have a pet sitter who will be coming in twice per day to help with potty training while we're at work.

So far two thumbs up!!

A big thanks to the wonderful family who rescued her, her siblings and her mother. We absolutely adore and love Macy already :-)

Attached is a few pictures of her on her way home. Way more fun pictures to come!

Teddy!!

Well it has been a great beginning with Teddy in our home! As you can see from the pictures Teddy is becoming quite comfortable with our kids! We would like to give a BIG THANKS to the foster family....Teddy is very patient and well trained! Teddy is quickly learning some new commands, such as sit, stay, down, and beginning to ring a bell to go outside for potty time! Teddy has been enjoying walks, meeting new friends in the neighborhood, and cuddling up close to the kids and parents! We will post more info and pictures soon!
