Awesome Animal Resue Group

I just adopted Oscar, a doxie/beagle mix and a dachshund named Sherman on Thursday. Both were senior dogs around 8 years old. Both are very loving & affectionate. I was impressed with how it is just a group of foster homes for animal. It is a great way to provide a home until they get adopted, rather than being in a building and the animals in cages most of the time. It is very obvious that they ALL (fosters & volunteers) and anyone else who is with the group, really care about each animal. Originally I was going to only get Oscar, but after reading Sherman's profile, I wanted to adopt him as well. Anyway, I highly recommend adopting from the guys, it is well worth it. But I can understand adopting from an local area shelter or rescue group. As long as you adopt from where ever, it just makes room for another animal that come get n the rescue. Anyway, I just wanted to say that this group has a lot of great animal lovers & they all are very nice to work with in setting up a day &
time to finish the adoption process.

FINDING DORY....

HI...
THIS IS OUR STORY ABOUT "FINDING DORY"
LAST DECEMBER, WE LOST OUR 12 YEAR OLD SHEPHERD..SHADOW..
SHE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A LARGE TUMOR IN HER SPLEEN THAT HAD
RUPTURED AND WAS BLEEDING INTO HER ABDOMEN...WE WERE
DEVASTATED...WE HAD TO KEEP OUR PROMISE TO OUR BABIES ABOUT
NOT LETTING THEM SUFFER...IT WAS ONE OF THE HARDEST THINGS
WE HAVE EVER HAD TO DO..

SHADOW HAD A BUDDY BY THE NAME OF LIBBY (ALSO A RESCUE)
LIBBY WAS SHADOW'S BUDDY AND LIBBY ONLY KNEW HER SHADOW..
WE KNEW SHE WOULD HAVE TROUBLE AFTER LOSING SHADOW.
LIBBY WAS ONLY 4 YEARS...WE TOOK HER TO A COUPLE OF PLACES TO
SEE HOW SHE WOULD DO WITH A NEW PUPPY...SHE WAS SCARED TO DEATH, AND LITERALLY CLIMBED ON TOP OF MY HEAD TRYING TO GET AWAY FROM ANY PUPPY..LIBBY IS A SHEPHERD MIX AND WEIGHED 50 POUNDS.. NEEDLESS TO SAY WE DIDN'T KNOW HOW SHE WAS GOING TO DO...THEN SHE BECAME REALLY DEPRESSED, WOULD NOT EAT AND STOPPED SLEEPING WITH US AND WOULD LAY IN THE BATHROOM...IT WAS SAD TO THINK THAT OUR LITTLE GIRL FELT THIS WAY...(WE DID TOO)
WE STARTED LOOKING ON-LINE FOR PET RESCUES...SAW HUNDREDS
OF PRECIOUS FACES, THEN I CAME ACROSS PERFECT PAWS AND THERE SHE WAS...THIS SMILING FACE...WENT TO BED AND COULD NOT GET THAT FACE OUT OF MY HEAD..KEPT THINKING ABOUT HER AND DECIDED TO E-MAIL....TOLD THE GIRLS OUR STORY AND THEY
INVITED US TO MEET, SHE WAS NAMED DORA AT THAT TIME...WE DROVE
AN HOUR AND A HALF TO MEET HER... WE TOOK LIBBY WITH US TO SEE HOW THEY WOULD DO...VERY FIRST THING THAT HAPPENED, SHE
RAN RIGHT TO DWAYNE, KISSED HIS FACE, TURNED TO LIBBY AND STARTED WANTING TO PLAY...LIBBY ACTED A LITTLE SCARED AT FIRST
BUT IN A FEW MINUTES EVERYONE COULD TELL SHE WAS GONNA BE JUST FINE....DORA WANTED A FRIEND...I BENT DOWN AND DORA GAVE ME KISSES TOO, AND I LOVED ON BOTH MY GIRLS...THAT WAS IT...
THE WONDERFUL COUPLE WHO HAD BEEN TAKING CARE OF DORA HAD ACTUALLY BEEN CALLING HER DORY....WE ENJOYED TALKING TO THEM SO MUCH...THEY WERE ENGLISH AND SCOTTISH...SO NEEDLESS TO SAY
DORY JUST FIT...SO THAT EVENING IN ANOTHER HOUR AND A HALF RIDE HOME...(WHICH BOTH THOSE BABIES DONE GREAT IN A SUV)
WE MADE IT HOME....LET THE GIRLS OUT INTO OUR FENCED YARD AND
THEY JUST STARTED RUNNING AND PLAYING AND WOULDN'T STOP...
IT HAD BEEN SNOWING SO THEY WERE SO FUNNY...DORY LOVES THE SNOW, AND PLOWS THROUGH IT...THAT WAS CHRISTMAS OF 2012...
WE HAVE HAD DORY NOW 8 MONTHS...SHE IS DEFINITELY PART OF THE
FAMILY...
I ALWAYS TELL EVERYONE... IN OUR MANY YEARS OF RESCUING AND HAVING BABIES IN OUR LIVES...."EVEN KNOWING HOW THINGS WOULD END WITH ALL THOSE BABIES, WE WOULD DO IT ALL OVER IN A SPLIT SECOND TO HAVE THOSE BABIES IN OUR LIVES"
THEY MAKE OUR HEARTS HAPPY......
THAT HOW WE FOUND DORY.....
ROBIN, DWAYNE, LIBBY AND DORY

looking for a home

Sorry - this isn't an adoption story - but I am trying to find a hope for a cat. My ex-husband was killed in a motorcycle accident last Friday. He was medically retired from the US Army due to an injury. I am able to take his dog but unable to take the cat. The cat's name is Rain and she is 3 years old. She is scared of other people right now. So I think someone would need to work with her a little to help her. She is currently still in his house and there is a bad case of fleas. I am sure she has them because the dog did. Any help trying to find her a home would be appreciated. My son doesn't want to have the cat put to sleep but I don't know of any other options at this time. My name is Nancy and I can be contacted at 260-749-8381 or nwhvndunn@yahoo.com.

Levi (formerly known as Taffy) got a BIG forever family

Two and half years ago Levi Guido (formerly Taffy) was adopted into his new forever family. Unlike most forever families, besides his "parents", Levi also has over 250 "brothers and sisters". Levi's new forever family happens to be at the Wells Community Boys & Girls Club in Bluffton, IN.
Levi's adventure into his new family started with a group of children at the Club asking the Executive Director, Lisa, if they could get a dog for the Club. This youthful spirited request ultimately led to Lisa's decision to adopt a dog that she would take to work as a "Club Dog". After research into the best type of dog for a setting filled with energetic children, Lisa applied to adopt Levi (believed to be a Shih Tzu/ Bichon mix).
Two and a half years have gone by and Levi is truly living "the dog's life". Each weekday morning he wakes ready to go to "work". Once at work, Levi's job consist of: giving tours to new "friends" who visit the Club, listening to kids read during homework and reading time, being the all time "un-freezer" during freeze tag, and showing all the kids at the Club what true unconditional love really is. Recently Levi was one of the stars in the Club's talent show, showing off his ability to sit, lie down, roll over and dance. For all his hard work, Levi is paid with all the love, petting, and attention any dog could handle (and a few treats here and there).
Levi is not only a part of the Club where the kids are concerned, but he is also a celebrity member of the board of directors for the Club. He's been highlighted in several newspaper articles in Bluffton, and is touted as one of the Club's biggest fundraisers. Thanks to Perfect Paw's Pet Rescue, not only has Levi's life improved through adoption, but the lives of so many children have also improved. Thank you Perfect Paw's for our "perfect pet"!!

Pancake & Buster (now named Charlie)

We adopted 2 of our 3 dogs from Perfect Paws. They have been nothing but a blessing. Pancake and Charlie (f/k/a Buster) were adopted two years apart but have become the best of friends! They're sweet but they like to cause trouble! :) They like to tease their other brother, Max. I couldn't imagine my life without them! Thank you Perfect Paws! I will forever refer people to you!
