I saw her at Petsmart earlier in the week and immediately fell in love with her. She didn't hesitate or shy away from my children (who cried when we left the store without her)! Her story was heartbreaking and I wanted to give her the forever home she deserves. She is the snuggliest most lovable cat I have ever met. She will roll over on her back and let you rub her belly. The happier she is the more she drools, which is one more part of her personality that cracks us up! We are so happy to ha e her as our newest family member! Thank you for such a wonderful companion!

Mya (now Lulah)

Perfect Paws, thank you for offering the best dog in the world to me!
Your bulldog mix Mya was adopted in November, was renamed Lulah (for her possible Alapaha Blue blood bulldog heritage, per the vet) and immediately became the princess of the neighborhood. She is clever, inquisitive, and has a winning personality. Her gorgeous markings are just an outward sign of her inner beauty.
She enjoys playing with other dogs at her weekly doggy daycare, and always gets great marks for her ability to play appropriately with any size or age of dog.
She plays at the large dog park 2 to 3 times a day with her new buddies and her BFF Bindi, a 2 year old red Australian shepherd. Bindi races, Lulah brings her down to wrestle, one escapes, and it goes all over again. When she's not playing rodeo, she's very busy standing guard at my kitchen window, protecting me from seen an unseen dangers, like the UPS man. She looks so scary, but is such a sweetie!
I can't believe that someone could let this dog go as a stray, but I'm glad that they did. Perfect Paws was there with many different animals. But when I locked eyes with this puppy, I was a goner! I grew up with big dogs but have had cats for the past 15 years. Now, it was time. I bonded with him immediately and cried when I left the store without him. My husband and I had to have a conversation before we made a decision. There were many obstacles in our path before we could adopt. It took us almost 4 hours to get the fees together, do the paperwork, and buy supplies.
But my hubby could see that this dog was going to be a great source of happiness for me and he has become my own personal therapy! Luke is very happy with a fenced in yard where he can run free. My husband and I take him for walks every day. He has so many toys and rawhides he doesn't know what to do with himself. He has become our spoiled little baby and we love him so much.
File #0 DSC00403.JPG exceeds the maximum file size. Error: 1.
File #0 DSC00343.JPG exceeds the maximum file size. She is approximately a 9-10 month, German Shepard/Husky mix. We get along perfectly. She is extremely well behaved (for the most part!) and was perfectly crate and house trained before she was adopted. She has had no accidents in the house! She is a very loving, affectionate girl. Summer is receptive to learning and likes to obey me. She has already learned 'shake', 'take a nap', 'outside' and 'potty' in additional to 'sit' and 'down' she already knew. She is very obedient!
I am extremely happy with my adoption, and am excited that I had the opportunity to have her as a pet. I would like to thank Perfect Paws for the great dedication and care given to Summer before I adopted her.
Thank you so much!
File #1 summer2.JPG exceeds the maximum file size. I am now doing volunteer work and participating in every event possible to help end animal cruelty. Pancake was the best thing to ever happen to me. We got him in May of 2010 from Perfect Paws, who I wish I could thank every single day for the gift they gave me. He loves bones and squeaky toys (one squeaky toy in particular that he never let's go). He's learning how to play fetch and loves chasing squirrels. He now has a brother, Max, to play with as well. Thank you Perfect Paws, Pancake was a blessing.

Phoebe

We adopted Phoebe (now known as Flash) from Perfect Paws at the Adopt-a-thon August 13, 2011. She is a slightly overweight Puggle who is just perfect for us. She was surrendered the day before the adoption event, and is 4 years old. We did not want to go through the "puppy years" with another dog. She loves to walk outside and discover all the wonders of her new home. We hope to be able to let her run a little more when we can trust her more and she can trust us more. She is already a delightful addition to our family and gets along great with our 2 and 3 year old grandsons and our cat. We hope she will be around for as long as our last dog, 13 years!

Seda Mae (formerly Snowball), adopted in August 2007

We adopted Seda when she was 8 weeks old, in August 2007. My wife and I were at the Pet Smart store at Apple Glen Shopping Center to get some litter for our other 2 cats . Perfect Paws had some kittens there "on display" for adoption. This little tuxedo "gentleman" (CID) just "stamped" his paw prints on MY heart ,,BIG TIME ! I fell in love with him on FIRST sight. He is such a LOVING and affectionate little guy. We have re-named him BUDDY as he is ALWAYS by me. He is just 3 1/2 months old , but what a "sweetie" ! We filled out the papers for him and I "raced" them back to the store hoping I would have first "dibs" on him. Sure enough, I received a call the next day that we were excepted as suitable "parents" of this little guy. What a joy he has added to our "family". He has adjusted very well to his 2 (cat) "sisters" who are 4 and 8 yrs. old. Bailee is 4 and Zoe is 8 . They get along super well.
I recommend the Perfect Paws organization to everyone. The facility and foster people are very caring about each and every animal.
We are really happy with or little guy ! We have had him 2 weeks now and are looking forward to a long relationship !
Sincerely,
Norm G.

Mack (5/ 2009 adoption - attention sibling owners - Leo, Jasper, Lucy

I adopted Mack (now renamed to Duke) on 5/23/09. We've had Duke for a couple of years and love him dearly. Thank you, Perfect Paws Pet Rescue & Duke's foster 'parents' - for helping us give Duke his forever home!!
He came to your pet rescue with 4 of his siblings. This is the page of your site that references Mack (Duke). http://www.perfectpawspetrescue.org/animals/detail?AnimalID61960#animalOtherPictures
3 of his siblings are:
Leo: http://www.perfectpawspetrescue.org/animals/detail?AnimalID61958
Jasper: http://www.perfectpawspetrescue.org/animals/detail?AnimalID61961
Lucy: http://www.perfectpawspetrescue.org/animals/detail?AnimalID61967
I can't recall the name of the 4th, unless there were a total of 4 and Duke (Mack) was the 4th.
The dogs were thought to "puggles" (pug/beagle/mixed). We knew early on he was not a puggle and likely had more terrier in him. This year I decided to have some DNA testing done on Duke to hlep us best keep his inherent breed traits satisfied through training and activity.
In a nutshell, one of Duke's parents was a Toy Fox Terrier/English Cocker Spaniel cross. The other of Duke's parents was a Chihahua Mix. The mixed breed ancestor (the dog crossed w/the Chihahua to make up his second parent) was identified by the 5 next best breed matches that appeared in the ananlysis of Duke's DNA. Those 5 breeds (in order of relative strength in the analysis) are Yorkshire Terrier (5.17%), Biewer Terrier (5.04%), English Toy Spaniel (4.06%), Beagle (1.62%), and Rat Terrier (1.46%).
I'm sharing the results in hopes the owners of the other siblings may get it. I'm happy to share Duke's full canine genetic analysis, which contains a great deal more information you may find helpful - or just intersting!
I've attached a couple updated pictures for you. This is the page of your site that references Mack (Duke).
http://www.perfectpawspetrescue.org/animals/detail?AnimalID61960#animalOtherPictures
3 of his siblings are:
Leo: http://www.perfectpawspetrescue.org/animals/detail?AnimalID61958
Jasper: http://www.perfectpawspetrescue.org/animals/detail?AnimalID61961
Lucy: http://www.perfectpawspetrescue.org/animals/detail?AnimalID61967
I can't recall the name of the 4th, unless there were a total of 4 and Duke (Mack) was the 4th.
The dogs were advertised as a "puggle" (pug/beagle/mixed). We knew early on he was not a puggle and like had more terrier in him.
Enjoy!

Hank, formerly Gage

We adopted Gage on January 15, 2011, when he was only eight weeks old. Upon adoption we renamed him Hank because my boyfriend's name is Gage. After bringing Hank home, we found out that he was already completely crate trained, which made it a lot easier to house train him. We also discovered how easy it is to teach Hank various commands; it only took him three tries to learn to drop his toy on command.
Hank loves to go for walks and to play outside at my parent's house. He knows how to fetch and to return his toys. Also, he plays very well with other animals and kids. We enjoy every day with him and we look forward to many more. We would like to say thank you to the family who fostered him, you guys did a great job.

Princess Nora

Nora joined our family about a month ago. She looks forward to her walks around the neighborhood each day, and a rawhide bone to chew on at night.
She loves to play with her "cousins," Breezy and Bosley - our daughter's two dogs. They have taught her to play catch and keep-away.
She was not sure about riding in a car, but has adapted quickly. Yesterday she took her longest trip yet - a trip to our property on Coldwater Lake in southern Michigan. Already, she tried out the water!
We're looking forward to a fun summer with our very big family and all their dogs.
She is smart, affectionate, and already an important member of our family! It's much harder than I thought, because I wanted to adopt my first two; CoCo and Romeo. I wanted to adopt both; but as Tammy said, then I couldn't help give another dog a 2nd chance; you see, I already have 2 other dogs and a cat. I've never made such a tough decision to give up one of the two. I adopted CoCo and he is positively awesome; loving, loves my other dogs, plays a lot and has brought absolute joy to our house. He has bonded with my husband who is not really an animal lover. Ths dog has created a miracle!!!!!! Now on to Romeo, the little red,Chi/Pom mix. I thought I was going to die when I took him to his new adoptee. Cried for 3 days and still think of him everyday. But how fortunate for him and me that he got a wonderful home with Sarah and Sarah's little Yorkie. They have all bonded and Sarah keeps me informed onhow they are all doing. How fortunate I am to have had little Romeo in my life and that h
e has such an awesome home. I now have a 3rd fostor little boy, who I named Duffy, after that handsome hunk Patrick Duffy. LOL Tammy's wisdom was so correct, I excited that I get to give another dog a foster home. And, I know I won't want to give this darling dog up, either, but know I am doing the right thing. Hope he gets an awesome home, too. I pray for all of them. I hope that more people have it in their hearts to become foster homes or/and become adoptees to these wonderful animals (dogs/cats) and give them a 2nd chance!!!!!!!!!!

Fritz

Fritz came to us a few weeks after we lost our 15 year old schnauzer Wally. We have come to believe the Wally "sent" Fritz to us. From what we can determine Fritz was dropped at the shelter on about the same day the Wally died. Fritz has one ear which is slightly cocked, as did Wally. Fritz is bow legged, so was Wally. Fritz LOVEs to have his chest scratched, well guess what again, so did Wally. Our sorrow has been replaced with love thanks to our rescue!
After a rough start with the doggie door Fritz now spends more time out in the yard than in the house. He loves it! He and his "brother" Winston are on the verge of actually playing with each other. Fritz's playfulness has really begun to surface since he has been here. We even think he may be younger than we originally were told.
This was our first rescue and we really didn't know what to expect. We are truly blessed to have found our Fritz-o!
The first photo is of the brothers, Winston and Fritz. The second photo is Fritz. She was such a sweet little puppy, and when I took her to her adoption, I knew she was going to the right home.
As soon as I walked in to the store Mikas new mommy and daddy looked at her and had the happiest looks on their faces.
Mikas mommy was so touching, she began to try with tears of happiness, and got right down on the floor to interact and meet her new baby.
I know that Mika has a great family now, and to see the happiness in her new owners faces was the greatest gift I could have asked for. This is the reason that I am so grateful to be able to foster pets who might not have a chance, and it is also the reason that I will continue fostering puppies and dogs through this great organization.
My fosters have given me the greatest joy, and seeing them placed in a new, permanent, loving family is probably the only thing that comes close to making me as happy as I am to be able to help these pets!

Izzy, Formerly Pepper

Tammy,

My Husband and I adopted one of your dogs in 2006 and thought we would give you an update on her. Her name was Pepper, we renamed her Izzy. She is still very spunky and loves all people and dogs. Hanna, her big sister (1.5 year old female yellow lab) already adores her. They have been playing non-stop since we arrived home.
Macy is learning currently learning basic potty and kennel training. I suspect she'll be in good to go in a couple of weeks. It's amazing what older dogs can do to help with training. We also have a pet sitter who will be coming in twice per day to help with potty training while we're at work.
So far two thumbs up!!
A big thanks to the wonderful family who rescued her, her siblings and her mother. We absolutely adore and love Macy already :-)
Attached is a few pictures of her on her way home. As you can see from the pictures Teddy is becoming quite comfortable with our kids! We would like to give a BIG THANKS to the foster family....Teddy is very patient and well trained! Teddy is quickly learning some new commands, such as sit, stay, down, and beginning to ring a bell to go outside for potty time! Teddy has been enjoying walks, meeting new friends in the neighborhood, and cuddling up close to the kids and parents! I am having issue with my camera so this is the only picture i have right now. i will keep sending updates every so often with new pictures for the family that found her and took care of her.
First off Belle has a new name...Cleo (Cleopatra). WHen we adopted her we were walkign out and my husband said that she looked egyptian becasue of the dark (eyeliner) around her eyes so she is our little Cleo. She is a great dog and fits in with our family so well. It is like she has been here forever. It is great to watch her and my son play together. He is two and the excitement of a new puppy is still going strong. He helps me feed her everyday! They will be life long buddies. As for the baby,Sophia is a little unsure but today she was laughing at CLeo and wanted to pet her. :) I am sure when she gets a little older she will be right with her brother playing.
We love her energy and the fact that she also loves to snuggle with us. She is doing well with house training although we have had a few accidents (much better now that my husband nows the doggie potty signs). She is jumping the fence when the other dogs are out unless we are standing outsidfe with her... she always runs right beack when i call her. We are starting apuppy training class at petsmart in Dec when i am done with school, but work on basic commands at home. She is very smart.
Yesterday we went to the vet and she did so well. She has gained a little and the doctor said she looks beautiful and in excellent health. We go back in a few weeks for more Vaccine and growth check (not sure how big she will be). She did get a little sick on the way home and was wondering if she was car sick ever....took her right back and she was fine!
Please tell the family that looked out for her and turned her in thank you from the Stepien family. We LOVE Cleo and are grateful to them for caring for her when her owner didnt. She is an awesome family member.
take care,
ELziabeth Stepien

Baby's Pictures :)

Picture of baby and her Big sister :)

Baby :)

We adopted Baby in Sept. of this. I had been looking for a breed that worked fo people with allergies, and found that a Yorkie also met other criteria I was looking for (small, etc.). Tanner/Scruffy had been offered for about 3 months before I began the adoption process. He was listed as a Yorkie mix, which he is, and about 5 years old. This was good because I was looking for a mature adult dog. He was also said to be "housebroken". After I had Scruffy for a week, I took him to the vet for a check-up. Imagine my surprise when the vet told me that Scruffy is no more than 2 years old! That explains why he chews everything in sight. Scruffy is also NOT housebroken, but is getting better.
Before you adopt, be sure you ask everything about the dog and then cross your fingers that what you're told is the truth.
If he wasn't so sweet sometimes, I'd have to give him back!

The Chauncey Bean!

We adopted Chauncey (then known as Blitzen) on January 4th of 2010 when he was about 12 weeks old. What a great way to start the year. We are so happy with our little Cocker Spaniel, although he's not that little anymore! We estimate his birthday to be October 15th so I just wanted to let you know how well this birthday boy is doing. We call him the "Chauncey Bean" because he's kinda shaped like a bean, sometimes we call him "Little Piggy" because he's gotten a bit porky and loves his treats, other times we call him the "Spotted Cow" because he likes to graze on the flowers in the garden and on occasion he is known as "Shark Attack" when hides under the bed and pops out to attack you when you get off the boat (bed). I never realized we were adopting so many animals at once! He is best buddies with our Goldendoodle Winston and together they make sure our 7 year old son wakes up for school on time with lots of dog kisses. I'll tell them "It's time to wake up Alex" and t
hey will both head straight for his bedroom door. It's their favorite part of the morning. Chauncey is a favorite at Petsmart. The groomers there love it when he comes in and he loves his spa days. They say he is one of the best behaved Cockers they see. We're so happy to have him as part of the family and that you were able to foster him until his found his forever home with us! He's living the good life now! We'll post with new pics next year....See you then!

Happy Tail

I ADOPTED A CUTE LITTLE BOY - He turned out to be sick. Our 10 year old son Zach had taken the loss of our dog the hardest and had been searching the internet for the perfect second dog for him to care for again. We came across Luigi on the website and Zach could not get him off his mind.
Unbeknownst to Zach we contacted Perfect Paws and decided to see if we could at least meet Luigi and see if we felt he would be a good fit for our family. Needless to say, we brought Luigi home that same day and we are all hopelessly in love with the little guy!
We surprised Zach and our son and his dog have been inseperable ever since. We are so grateful to Perfect Paws and for Luigis foster mom Diane. They were wonderful with Luigi and he is incredibly well behaved for being only 5 months old. He is even teaching our large lab better manners.
Losing Casey was one of the most difficult things our family has ever had to go through, but Luigi has filled that gap in a big way. We are so blessed to have him in our family.
File #1 060.JPG exceeds the maximum file size. What a loving little guy. We could not have ask for a better dog. Our little doxie Olive and Jim are a perfect pair. They love to play together and nap together as well. Jim has adjusted well and we are working on not barking at everyone at the park, but everyday gets better. We love how excited he is when he wakes up in the morning, like he can not wait to start another day. We are having so much fun learning and playing together.
My family and I want to thank Janet(Jim's Foster Mom) and her family for taking such great care of Jim. Thank goodness for the foster homes who work with these puppies they rescue. I am happy to say, Bella has never had a #2 accident in my house. She has only had one accident when she got scared during a thunderstorm - not bad for a 3 month old puppy. The foster house recommended her to me as our first dog and I am sure glad I trusted her word. She has a personality plus and is great with the kids.
Bella is enjoying the fenced in yard and loves to go outside. She has tons of energy and really has quite a fast step to her when we walk. She keeps right in stride with me when I run with her and really catches on fast. She has brought plenty of enjoyment for my kids and I. She even endured a nine day vacation without us and has had no sign of separation anxiety while we were gone. I had my babysitter stay at my house while we gone and I think that made all the difference. She has really brought us a lot of happiness!!! Thanks so much for the work you do to rescue these dogs and find them a place where they have a chance to be loved.
Felton Family
File #0 IMG_3644.JPG exceeds the maximum file size. We've learned that, even though Indy has received her AKC CGC (Canine Good Citizen), no amount of obedience classes can ever remove her excitability trait. (In new or unfamiliar situations, we rely on our Gentle Leader/Halti collar and/or high value treats).
Training Indy has been hard work, yet one well worth the reward/investment. I can't begin to explain the excitement - and tears - when at last I realized that my dog and I were communicating! (The AKC classes - and brutal honesty of our trainer - have proved invaluable)!!!
Indy came to us with food intolerance, which lead me to research pet food, which lead me to "Whole Dog Journal" and their annual pet food recommendations, which solved her intolerance issues.
Indy's grinning vet, amazed she tolerates a battery operated toothbrush, recently stated that because we brush her teeth regularly and keep her weight at his recommended 40#, "she'll live forever" (Don't we wish).
PP was accurate that Indy was a needy dog. We've done our best - and we hope beyond - in these past five years to comply with our PP adoption contract.
No one could love this wonderful "mutt'" more.

Miss Mia

I adopted Mia, a 5 (or 6) year old American Shorthair cat from Perfect Paws just over 2 years ago. Mia has been the most wonderful addition to my home. She is quiet and she does not scratch furniture. She loves to curl up on her Kitty Condo and look out of the window or stretch out on the back of the sofa and put her paw on my shoulder as I read or watch TV. She loves to watch Animal Planet, and she can Nap with the best of them. She is sweet and loving and I cannot imagine her not being in my life. She sleeps on the foot of my bed. Thank you Perfect Paws for fostering my girl until I came to adopt her! Mia's picture is on the Perfect Paws website under "Successful Adoptions". She is beautiful. They seem made for each other. The look on my uncle's face when I walked in with his new dog was priceless. And Yogi seemed to know right off the bat who his new, main human was supposed to be. He came to his new name, jumped in my uncle's lap and I swear he smiled.
My uncle is in his 90s, but in the shape of someone 20 years younger. Yogi/Kobe is about 5 or 6, and weighs around 12 pounds, and active without being hyper. My uncle walks every day and now he has a companion to go with him. They also enjoy munching on popcorn and watching the squirrels at the feeder in his backyard.
Word got round to his neighbors within a few hours that he had a new dog, and one by one they trooped over to meet the little guy and help celebrate with him.

NUTMEG

Dolly, formally known as Nutmeg is a big baby with a ton of energy. Rocky was a 12 week old puppy then. He has brought so much joy to our lives. When we adopted him he looked like a rough and tumble little Rottie but as he grew he changed so much. He now looks like a beautiful Husky...He is the sweetest most loving yet fiercely protective dog. He is my daughter's best friend and he is my baby still...He loves to curl up on his pillow in my office while I work. I just can't imagine life without Rocky. Rosee came into my life a week later. After seeing her photo on Perfect Paws Rescue's website, it was love at first sight. She was an angel sent from heaven and two days later, I adopted her into my life, my home and my heart.
Rosee has since then been nicknamed the "Energizer Poodle"! She is a very high energy little girl and she fits right in. Words cannot express the joy she has brought into my life.
She likes to tease my grandson, Collyn, by jumping the baby gate. He's still trying to figure that one out! She loves playing with my pet bunnies and they get along great! She sleeps with me at night and loves to cuddle and has an abundance of puppy kisses.
I would like to thank Tammy for making the adoption process a breeze and for bringing Rosee into my life.
Brigitte Cora

Tehya and Nora

A year and a half ago we lost our 2 dogs within six months of each other. They hit it off right away, and now they are practically inseparable. He is 4 years old now and a very happy boy. We were in a mobile home when he came home with us, but we moved into a regular house about a year later, mostly for the dogs :) Cassie & Murphy have created a path around the pool in the back yard, and they spend lots of time chasing the squirrels up the huge trees we have. One of Murphy's favorite things to do is to just lay outside, no matter what the weather, and watch the yard. He loves to play with our cats and with our grandsons when they visit. We think that someone probably abused him when he was little...he tends to roll over if you try to discipline him for anything, he also hates to be brushed...he barks at the brush until it'
s put away (although he lets the groomer do it with no problems). One of his best tricks is to catch any food that's tossed in his direction. He and Cassie can also roll over at the same time. Thanks so much for Murphy, he has added so much to our family. I'm glad you have this blog so that we can keep you updated.
donna and glenn hansen

Elvis

I went to Petsmart to bring home two kittens I'd met a few weeks before. They stood up in their cage when I tapped on the glass and batted at my fingers. I went through the habitat door and around the corner, and there were the kittens I came for, looking out, wondering where I was.
In the NEXT cage, a pair of furry arms shot out through the grid, paws reaching for me, and a little black nose right above them, and I heard the tiniest mewing sound. Holly, I said, Can I see that cat? It was Elvis, and when I took him, he snuggled right under my neck and started to purr. Ooooh, she said, you might have to take home three cats today! No, I said, just this one. I was smitten with this kitten!
Elvis fit perfectly in our home. We have two dachshunds and Elvis firmly believes that they are his pets. They play together every day, and watching their antics is better than TV. Hide and seek is their favorite game and it is hilarious to see two of them working together to find the third who is laying quietly somewhere, grinning. Elvis will lay over the dogs and groom them, lick lick licking, until one of them falls asleep. They share the window wonderfully and if he sneaks out the door to enjoy the back yard, one of the dogs will go out and herd him back inside. A curious cat, he will get stuck inside a closet or in the basement, and the dogs will come and find us to rescue him.
Thank you to whoever found him, and kept him safe until he could come to our home!

File #1 Winter Dance 052.jpg exceeds the maximum file size. All are rescue dogs. I became interested in fostering when we met Beau at his foster home several years ago. The interest became reality last year when an email asking for help was forwarded to me. Since that time, I have fostered over 30 puppies. It is so much fun to see all the different puppy personalities and especially rewarding when they get adopted into their forever homes. The puppies work on crate and house training, basic obedience and walking on a leash while in our home. I am always amazed at how loving they can be when you know that people haven't always been good to them. I enjoy seeing a puppy be fascinated by such simple things as a bird fly off or seeing themselves in a mirror for the first time. It seems that every puppy I get needs to learn how to go up and down stairs. Something so simply that we take for granted. I enjoy meeting the new owners on adoption day and seeing their reaction to their new pet and how quickly they seem to fall in love. I also like the challenge of working with a dog that maybe doesn't have the best house manners and getting them started down the road to being a "good" family member. I know that I am giving this dog a better chance of having a happy life if they have good manners. I am lucky that I have a very good mentor in my Giant Schnauzer. She is a good influence on my fosters. I have had several foster dogs/puppies that I woul
d have liked to keep if I had the resources but yet I know that they went to good homes! There are a lot of GREAT dogs out there. Lori Happel

File #0 LoriHappel.jpg exceeds the maximum file size. It's been awhile and I was just browsing the Perfect Paws website again to look at Shiloh's rescue page and her puppy pictures. Hard to believe it's been almost three years (next month) since I adopted my little best friend! She is doing so well, she has brought so much joy to my life....I cannot say enough to everyone how much this dog has enriched my life. I'm always thankful for what you are doing with the dog rescues as your work was the sole way Shiloh found her way into my life.
We are still living in Portland, Oregon and Shiloh is pretty much the dog of the city. She owns it! She is the favorite at our dog park, on our hikes in the Columbia River Gorge and when I bring her to the coast. Haha!! When I travel for work, Shiloh goes to dog camp!! Anytime I leave her there and come pick her up, the owners want to steal her from me! Shiloh even comes out to the bars sometimes!! If you can believe it, Portland is such a dog friendly city there are several pubs that are dog friendling, including a chain with several in the city called Lucky Labrador...you can bring your dog out with you!!
So I just thought you'd like an update, and I'm attaching a couple updated pictures of my little girl. Thanks again for all you do!!
Jeffrey Sgro

Colt doing great!

Just wanted to say thanks for sending Colt's paperwork. We're working on his ILP paperwork right now! I did call through to his previous vet with his old owner and got his records there sent over too. I don't think he'll be getting updated vaccines for a while, as it did appear that he had his full puppy series and then had the repeated vaccines when he came into rescue. I have been giving him some homeopathic things to help clear that, although we're having icky ears right now. I wonder if reaction to vaccine ramped up the aggression you were seeing from him. That is one of the symptoms sometimes seen.
Other than the fact that Colt is suffering from some separation anxiety (so the owner leaving exercise will be hard for him) Colt is almost ready to earn a CGC. We started his beginner obedience class a few weeks ago, and for the most part he looks like the star of the class. I am still having him lunge at other dogs occasionally, but he is responding well to a combination of positive and negative training for that. If he's dumb enough to try lunging, he gets hung up for it, but I watch him really close and most of the time, he's now opting to redirect to the really awesome treats instead of continuing a hard stare at the other dog. He's training with freeze-dried liver and absolutely adores it!
I also wanted to tell you that we took him Trick-or-Treating with Kaitlyn and he did so well! The area we went doesn't have alot of sidewalks, so much of the time we were walking right at road-side. Colt never lunged at vehicles, including some older boys out on skateboards. He even was steady after it got dark. Kids and costumes and lots of people didn't phase him a bit. I took my Banshee dog along too (walked both of them myself) and I think he was a little better behaved than she was! As time goes on, we're seeing fewer and fewer of his problem behaviors. He's really turning into a big sweet loveable dum-dum! I really think with some maturity, he'll be able to do therapy work. He'd be nice for hospitals and nursing homes since he's so stinking tall- he'll be able to reach up to beds easily while standing flat-footed.
Here are a couple of pictures (we haven't actually taken any video of him yet- we'll have to video his CGC test!). Colt decided while I had the flu that snuggling was an amazing activity. He'll be a fun bed buddy when he grows out of the "everything I see must go in my mouth" stage!
Thanks again-
Kerry Greer

Belle adoption update!

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; She has been doing great. After the peeing in the house was out of her system (lasted a couple days) she has been wonderful! She is polar opposite of our last dog. Belle is so well behaved and responds to "NO" so well. So is picking up on some more "tricks". We haven't let her off the tie out yet but I know she is just waiting for the day when she can run like mad and chase all the squirrels! Belle has been great with Cooper and is so tolerant and relaxed. The only weird thing is.....she doesn't want to play with toys or chew on bones yet. I'm guessing this may come as she is gets more comfortable. She has settled into laying around and taking long naps on the couch so I think that is a good sign! Anyway, as I get a few more cute pictures I will forward them your way!
Stacy

Peaches update!

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; I know it is less than 24 hours.

We can't tell you how lucky we feel to have her. She is absolutely a great fit for our family. She hasn't whined, maybe a little in the car off and on for 5 minutes!!! She got to the house and just seemed like she knew she was home for good. Tucker took her around the house and showed her around and are instant playmates. Tucker has been trying to offer her his food, and she is not taking it! I only have to tell her No once or twice and she doesn't do it again (like jump on the couch or play in my garden or ask for excessive petting)

Here is the other amazing story. We took her for a walk and put two leashes on her. One for Tucker to hold and one for me to hold. When she knew Tucker was holding the leash she wasn't trying to pull or walk fast or sniff.

She has fit in so well, my husband asked me last night where the dog was. And she was laying just off to the side of his feet.

I also wanted to write you and just Thank You and let you know how Thankful we are to Christy and her family. Christy drove up to Auburn to meet us, and brought her girls. Her girls played with my son while I looked at the dog. Christy went out of her way to make this easy for us. It is clear Christy and her family took great care and loved this dog to help her through her transition to a forever family.

I included a photo of Tucker and Peaches, he is so happy. His face lit up again this morning when Peaches went into his room and greeted him after he woke up.

Again, thank you. We feel so lucky to have her.
